Eddie Will Johnson

Eddie Will Johnson was born on November 29, 1944 in Early County, Georgia to Joe Nathan Johnson and Mattie Lee Cowart.

Although he was born in Early County, he was raised and spent most of his youth in Miller County.  But that all changed, when he met Johnnie Mae Wimberly of Damascus, GA.  They were married in August 1966, and he found himself right back in Early County, GA!  Together they raised four children.

Anyone who knew Eddie (including his wife!) knew that his true first love was farming.  He learned to drive a tractor with pedal extensions when he was 12 years old.  He continued to drive one while working for H&H Farms in Damascus, GA for 35 years until his doctor made him stop in 2003.  His second love was fishing.  Eddie could spend from sun up to sundown waiting for a fish to bite!  He was also very handy and could tinker with anything to make it work (whether it was actually fixed or not).

Eddie fell asleep in death on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama after years of chronic health issues.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Nathan Johnson and Mattie Lee Cowart and a brother, Ralph Cull.

He leaves behind his wife, Johnnie Mae Johnson, Damascus, GA; four children, Alan (Bonnie) Johnson, Ellenwood, GA; Roger (Marilyn) Johnson, Bainbridge, GA; Adrian Johnson and Jessica Johnson both of Damascus, GA; 3 grandchildren, Kenisha Love, Ellenwood, GA; Alan Johnson, Jr., Atlanta, GA; Chris (Twanshella) Johnson, Jonesboro, GA; great grandchildren, Brock Barkley, Ellenwood, GA; brothers, Nathaniel Johnson, Albany, GA and William (Margaret) Lewis, Rochester, NY; brothers-in-law, James Wimberly, Damascus, GA and Willie (Ludale) Wimberly, Blakely, GA; sister-in-law, Nettie (AJ) Johnson, Albany, GA.  He also leaves many grieving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends - all of whom he loved dearly.
