Obituary

Carnell Larry was born on November 29, 1955 to Joseph Larry and Ileatha Johnson Scott in Colquitt, Georgia.

At the age of 13, he joined New Salem Free Will Baptist Church along side his mother, beginning a part of his life rooted in faith and family. He was a proud graduate of Bethel High School.

Carnell had a love of fast cars and took pride in his work as a painter. He could be seen riding his bicycle. He was a man with his own personality, interests, and memories that will forever remain a part of the lives of those who knew him. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, family member, and friend whose life touched the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Though his time on earth has come to an end, the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to live on through his family and friends. His passing leaves avoid that cannot be filled; but his life and legacy will never be forgotten.

Carnell departed this life on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Southeast Health, Dothan, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Larry and Ileatha Scott, stepsister, Barbara Scott and his beloved grandson, Dontre Hudson, whose memory remained a part of his family’s story.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his children, Michael (Jasmine) Scott, Perry GA; Lakedrick (Christine) Johnson, Bonaire, GA, and Gerlissa Edmonds of Camilla, GA; three stepbrothers, Robert (Linda) Scott, Kelvin (Hattie) Scott, and Dexter (Myra) Scott; 11 grandchildren; two aunts, Juanita Johnson and Alice Mae Hightower of Colquitt, GA and an uncle, Ben Johnson of Florida. He also leaves his special cousin Lollie Nash, along with a host of cousins, relatives and dear friends who will forever treasure the moments they shared with him.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that the love we shared with Carnell will never die. His earthly journey has ended; but his legacy will continue through the generations who loved him.
