Obituary

Andrew Washington was born on August 5, 1922, to the late Quill Washington, Sr. and Essie (Cook) Washington in Miller County, Georgia.  He was the youngest child of Quill and Essie Washington's 11 children, He confessed Christ at an early age and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Miller County (Colquitt), GA. 

He was united in Holy Matrimony in 1945 to Lossie Mae Lippett, to this union a son was born, Andrew Washington, Jr.  Mr. Washington made his home in Cleveland, OH where he worked as a Factory Shop Steward.  Around the late 1970’s, he returned to his hometown to live with his brother Quill in Midway, FL, then with his sister Mazuria in Fowlstown, GA; later making his home in Colquitt, GA.  When his health began to fail, his niece, Wajihah Hamidullah (Luevern Bush), relocated him to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she became his caregiver.   A few weeks ago, he questioned: How long was he going to be like this? Her answer was “Until the Good Lord call you home.”  On Saturday morning of December 4, 2012, the Lord called him home, and we know that he is no longer in pain.  He is preceded in death by his parents Quill Washington, Sr. and Essie (Cook) Washington; his wife Lossie Mae Washington; a son, Andrew Washington, Jr.; two sisters, Paralee Walker and Mazuria Bush, eight brothers, Arnett Washington, Ezembel Washington, Henry Washington, Joshua Washington, Quill Washington, Walter Washington, Wilson Washington and Woodrow Washington. Stepmother Fanny Wilder Washington, stepbrother Arthur Washington as well as a stepsister, Daisy Benton McFarland.

He leaves to cherish his memories. a devoted niece/caregiver determined that he would not live his final years in a nursing home, Wajihah Hamidullah, Fort Lauderdale, FL; stepsister: Elizabeth Chambers Southfield, MI; stepbrothers Marcus and Robert Washington both of Quincy, FL along with a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.
