Vera Alice Pugh was born on May 24, 1925 in Miller County, Georgia to the late Edner Kirby Pugh and Willie Mae
Williams Pugh Hayes.
In 1941, she met and married Charlie Oliver Bush, Sr. They were blessed with three girls and five boys. Through the guidance of God and her parents, she accepted the hand of Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was known to her friends and family as “Chick Bush.” Vera attended Miller County School for early education. She received her high school GED from Thomas Area Technical School in Thomasville, GA.
She worked as a housewife during her early years of marriage. Later, she was employed with the Miller County Nursing Home in Colquitt, GA and also worked at the Bainbridge State Mental Hospital.
Vera peacefully departed this life in the comfort of her home in Colquitt, GA surrounded by loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edner Kirby Pugh and Willie Mae Williams Pugh Hayes, her husband, Charlie O. Bush, Sr. and brother Nathaniel Pugh.
Those who Vera leaves to cherish her precious memories include: son Charles (Lillie) Bush, Colquitt, GA; daughter Joyce (Milton) Arline, Colquitt, GA; son Elton (Kathy) Bush, Stockbridge, GA; son Patrick (Shawn), Albany, GA; son Larry (Bichson) Bush, Southport, NC; daughter Jacquelyn (Johnny) Scott, Albany, GA; daughter Betty Bush, Albany, GA, and son Tony (Val) Bush, Concord, NC. She also leaves to cherish four sisters, Jessie Vinson, Elma Butler, Beatrice Holloway, Martha N. Johnson, and Paul Pugh. Other siblings include Eddie Pugh, Gene Pugh, Ronnie Jones, and Evelyn Pugh. A host of grands, great grands, nieces, nephews and friends.
